Collaboration is a crucial pillar of success in any setting, healthcare environment included. Therefore, it is important for the individuals involved in such environments to use effective ways of collaboration. The clinical/practicum setting usually experiences collaborations, be it between internal stakeholders or between internal stakeholders and external stakeholders, and in most cases, such collaborations are geared towards improving patient outcomes. I have observed various methods of collaboration between internal and external stakeholders. One of the methods is enabling open communication and honest feedback (Rosen et al.,2019). Open communication ensures that every member of the internal and external stakeholders feels part of the process and appreciates that their voice can be listened to and acted upon. Another collaboration strategy is goal definition (Buchbinder et al.,2019). Defined goals are key as they help the set of stakeholders stay focused and work together to fulfill the common objective. Another strategy I have observed is leveraging technology. The internal and external stakeholders have used technological tools for collaboration to improve communication for better results.

The collaboration strategies have so far served the purpose and helped the organization to largely achieve its goals. The collaboration strategies used have both benefits and challenges. Enabling communication and honest feedback is key to encouraging cooperation and teamwork hence better organizational outcomes. On the other hand, not everyone embraces open communication and honest feedback (Arnold, E. C., & Boggs, 2019). Goal definition and outlining of the expectations have the benefit of encouraging everyone to stay focused and be on course to achieve the organization’s overall aims. The challenge, however, is that it is difficult to get buy-in from every individual and pull in one direction. The use of technological tools for collaboration enables faster communication. However, there is a possibility of a challenge accessing the tools.
