NR 503 Week 4 Open Discussion Forum: Triple Aims for Population on Institute for Healthcare Improvement Sample

Various resources have significant influences on studies. The Institute of Health Improvement is the institution responsible for healthcare improvement. It offers training to nurses and other healthcare professionals on quality improvement and its importance to the overall wellness of the institution, including the patients and its staff. In the last four modules, I have covered many issues on interprofessional collaboration and its importance in promoting better patient outcomes and improving disease control. The health institute supports healthcare improvement through various interventions, such as collaborative learning. The IHI trains individuals on quality improvement in their courses, emphasizing interprofessional collaboration. IHI notes that professionals need the input of others to make decisions that impact the whole unit positively.

The IHI’s Collaborative Model for Achieving Breakthrough Improvement was developed to address poor services, patient injuries, high healthcare costs, and insufficient care (inadequate professionals) (Middleton et al., 2020). The breakthrough strategy brings together a large task force from various institutions focusing on and addressing a specific health problem. The element of utilizing these professionals relates to the first four that required the student to use interprofessional teams to understand and implement interventions.

The IHI triple aim is a strategy that focuses on improving healthcare systems’ performance. Bachynsky (2020) states that the three aims of the initiative are to improve the patient experiences of care, improve the health of populations, and reduce healthcare per capita costs. The previous modules have focused on understanding population health problems and their patterns and outlining interventions that can help manage these problems. These modules have also explored health issues affecting various populations, thus preparing me to manage and improve these population health problems as a learner. These elements of interprofessional collaboration have been helpful and directly related to the topics in the first four modules.
