The Master of Science in Nursing focusing on nursing leadership in healthcare systems seeks to develop nurses with leadership skills to navigate the increasingly dynamic healthcare environment. This course offers an opportunity for nurses to pursue areas of leadership and consequently influence healthcare organizations at the leadership level. After watching the video, the main question I have concerning the program is whether there will be a practicum project which will offer students an opportunity for practical work experience. These practicum projects prepare nursing students for future work and focus on the importance of learning by doing (Kaihlanen et al., 2021). Therefore, practical practice will be vital.
There are various things I look forward to learning concerning this program. First, it is important to learn how to lead diverse healthcare teams. The healthcare sector is complex and often involves broken-down tasks delegated to various healthcare professionals (Yousaf et al., 2021). Therefore, there is a focus on quality of care as an outcome of collaboration between healthcare teams. It requires the working of diverse teams to ensure the provision of quality healthcare services. Leadership in healthcare teams requires the skill to lead diverse teams and ensure collaboration to enhance the quality of care. Second, the program will potentially develop the ability to lead improvement processes in healthcare. Learning good leadership skills is essential as it helps nurse leaders identify opportunities to improve the healthcare process (Drew, 2020). Additionally, it develops skills to identify frontline healthcare staff and lead in a manner that promotes collaboration and engagement. I selected the MSN-Leadership course since it offers the necessary skills to lead others in the increasingly dynamic healthcare environment. It helps develop the skills necessary to lead diverse teams, implement change, adopt financial management principles, lead improvement processes and motivate others to achieve the set goals.
