Consumption of large quantities of sugar is associated with an increased risk of health problems, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, dental diseases, obesity, and hypertension. Several factors predispose Eskimos to health risks due to large sugar quantity consumption. One of them is lifestyle and behavioral factors. Eskimos with sedentary lifestyles are highly at risk of developing health problems such as diabetes if they consume large sugar quantities. The other factor is genetics. Individuals have different genetic predispositions to health problems such as diabetes and obesity. Eskimos with a positive history of these conditions are likely to develop them if they consume large quantities of sugar. The last factor is limited access to healthcare services for the Eskimos. Limited access to healthcare will translate into an increased risk of unhealthy lifestyles and behaviors among Eskimos (Elamurugan et al., 2022; Hopkins et al., 2023; Koller et al., 2020). It will also lower the utilization of screening services, health education, and timely treatment of health problems, hence, the risks.

Nurses should be aware of the impact of the Japanese culture on the communication approach to use when working with a Japanese American family. Firstly, the Japanese place considerable value on the use of implicit non-verbal messages. Japanese in multiethnic low-context cultures such as American Japanese emphasize explicit verbal messages. Nurses should adapt their communication based on the cultural orientation of American Japanese families and their patients. For example, they should be intuitive by thinking before speaking and reflecting when working with high-context culture American Japanese families. Overall, the American Japanese culture emphasizes nonverbal communication use (Yamaguchi et al., 2021). This is because of the mistrust placed on spoken words.

Personal space is important when caring for patients from different cultural backgrounds. Russians emphasize the importance of respecting their personal space. Nurses and other healthcare providers should maintain a distance that promotes comfort when caring for Russian American patients. Often, closeness to these patients makes them uneasy during the care process (Borozdina & Novkunskaya, 2022). Nurses should keep at least 1.2 meters between them and Russian American clients. This space will make them comfortable, which enhances the quality of nurse-patient relationships.
