NR 5O5 Week 8: Reflection on Learning

My grasp of evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing has changed dramatically over this semester. EBP, as I now know, is about combining the best available evidence with clinical knowledge and patient preferences to offer comprehensive treatment rather than only adopting research findings (CO1). This insight, through Siegel et al. (2023), has helped me to see how important it is to remain current with new studies if we are to raise patient outcomes. I had a basic knowledge of EBP before this training. Still, now I value the need to apply it to customize treatment to the particular needs of different patients in diverse healthcare environments (Dusin et al., 2023). For instance, my studies started to revolve mostly around patient-centered treatment. I now see that realizing and handling every patient’s particular physical, mental, and social situation determines how well health results turn out (CO 2). Combining evidence-based treatments with this patient-centered approach helps me to be more ready to deliver thorough and customized treatment that might result in improved general outcomes.

Particularly in building a mindset emphasizing lifetime learning (CO 3), this course has also helped me both personally and professionally. EBP is dynamic; hence, I have to learn new proficiencies and apply them appropriately (Connor et al., 2023). My approach to continual learning is to go to seminars, keep current with the most recent nursing research by means of journals and professional networks, and participate in ongoing education. Furthermore, I want to share this information with my colleagues so that my company can develop an evidence-based care culture. Sharing insightful study results and motivating other nurses to implement them in the real world can help to strengthen cooperation and teamwork, therefore benefitting patient care.

I am dedicated to going ahead to include EBP in my routine nursing work. Periodic knowledge evaluation and updating will help me to improve clinical decision-making, guarantee that my treatment is always based on the best available evidence, and thereby increase patient outcomes (Connor et al., 2023). By doing this, I aim to produce a more effective, compassionate, and research-driven healthcare system, as well as help to advance healthcare delivery.
