Student Responses answer one question posed by your classmates in the opinion postings on the discussion board. Student responses must use evidence based information from reliable websites to answer the question. Remember, not all students write good research questions. It is your responsibility to answer one that asks for evidence based research.

Directions

To complete a Student Response, you will need to read a number of opinion postings. Select one posting that has a research question you are interested in exploring and then answering.

Use the Internet to find reliable websites with information you can use to answer the research question. Put the information into your own words and compose a 200 word minimum paragraph that answers your classmate’s question. Do not use quotes; this work must be in your own words.

At the end of your posting include the URL to the exact article you used. Your classmates and instructor should be able to click the URL and see the article you referenced

Real People Real Stories Chapter 10 Energy Balance and Weight Control on Sarah Marie

1.The diagnosis of bulimia nervosa is an emotional and physical challenge for Sarah Marie. She suffers extreme guilt from binging and purging. Her obsession with food and exercise to stay thin keeps her in a stressful emotional state.

2. As a preteen, Sarah was extremely overweight. She began eating healthier and lost over 40 pounds in less than six months. When she was a teenager she went on a program of diet and exercise.

Her approach to addressing the diagnosis was to visit a therapist for help with bulimia nervosa. She has not been successful in overcoming her negative eating habits.

3. I am inspired by her courage to share her successes and failures in dealing with her eating disorder. The fact that she is willing to tell her story to strangers is admirable. Sarah encourages anyone with an eating disorder to ask for help. Telling someone is always the first step to treatment.

4. I have type 1 diabetes. This condition requires that I count carbohydrates and maintain a strict diet. Unlike type 2 diabetes, which can be controlled with oral medication, diet and exercise, I wear an insulin pump. The pump delivers a controlled dosage of insulin through a pager sized device that is programmed to my needs. I used to be scared of carbohydrates because when I eat them I have to give myself a shot of insulin. In this class, I learned about different types of carbohydrates simple and complex. Moderation is key to maintaining a healthy quality of life with everything.

5. 1. How can Bulimia nervosa negatively impact certain nutrients with individuals who suffer with this condition?

5.2 how can a special diet help the quality of life with someone with bulimia nervosa? . Get homework help here
