Describe the features of the Affordable Care Act and explain how it will control costs and improve quality of care :Welcome to the Unit 8 Discussion Board Topic 1. Scholarly writing is a craft that one develops. Treat your initial post as a short essay by writing: (a) one introductory paragraph that introduces your essay; (b) one paragraph each for the below list of four required elements, using the four below headings, for the initial post; and (c) a conclusion to your essay. Some writing tips are at the bottom of this post. Also, below, is Kaplan of the required elements for your initial post this week:
Describe the features of the Affordable Care Act and explain how it will control costs and improve quality of care from the perspective of a cultural, economic, and ethnically diverse society. What are the limits of the Act? As an advanced practice nurse, what policy changes would you recommend to provide health coverage to those who remain uninsured? What effects does this act have on providers and consumers?
*Tip 1: Cite and reference a minimum of 3 current peer-reviewed sources; the 3 current peer-reviewed sources should be scholarly journal articles published within 2016-2017.
*Tip 2: Cite all references inside the narrative of your written text.
*Tip 3: Use APA headings to organize your initial posts; it is helpful to readers. Sample headings are:
Introductory paragraph
Description of the Affordable Care Act
How the Affordable Care Act will Control Costs and Improve Care
The Limits of the Act
Recommend Policy Changes
Effects the Act has for Providers and Consumers?
You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
