Which weekly objectives do you have prior knowledge of, and to what extent?
I have prior weekly knowledge of the objective in Topic 3 concerning the consequences of the fall of humanity into sin. Dadang (2022) explains that all God created was initially good and Adam and Eve possessed free will. However, since falling into sin leads to human suffering. Addai-Mensah (2020) adds that sin leads to the destruction of the relationship between God and his creation and causes death and suffering. I also have prior knowledge of the objective concerning the Christian understanding of why humans suffer. McMartin et al. (2020) explain that the Christian understanding of suffering is due to sin. The fall into sin has prevented humans from having a good relationship with the Creator, nature, and others. I also have prior weekly knowledge of the objective in Topic 5 concerning the essence of crucifixion and resurrection for Christian understanding of redemption and renewal. Johnson & Hayashida (2022) explains that Christ’s death and resurrection were God’s way of showing love. The sacrifice of Jesus was to show God’s promise of the Holy Spirit.

There are various weekly objectives that I have no prior knowledge of. For instance, I lack prior knowledge of the objective in Topic 2 concerning the implications of being created in God’s image. Schoot (2020) asserts that the creation of humans in God’s image is so that they can seek the analogies of the Triune God. I also have no prior knowledge of the implications of human dignity and human value on ethical decision-making. Autiero (2020) explains that human dignity relates to critical thinking, which is essential in ethical decision-making as one is sensitive to inequalities and issues affecting others.
What course-related topics would you like to discuss with your instructor and classmates? What questions or concerns do you have about this course?
One course-related topic I would like to discuss with my instructor and classmates concerns how concepts of human dignity and human value can be considered in ethical decision-making relating to care of patients especially during public health crisis such as Covid-19. The main concern is how ethical decision making competencies can be included in this course.
