There is a clear connection between my nursing specialty and practice theory. In my specific nursing specialty area of pediatric oncology, I work with cancer patients and their families. My practice theory is based on the concept of humanistic caring, which is aimed at providing holistic care to patients and their families. This approach is in line with the theoretical model that I use in my practice, which is theory of human development and behavior. Humanistic caring is founded on the belief that all people have an innate capacity for goodness and self-transcendence. It emphasizes the importance of treating each person with respect and dignity, and recognizes the intrinsic worth of every individual. Humanistic caring focuses on the relationship between the caregiver and the patient, and aims to create a caring environment in which both parties can feel safe and supported. It encourages caregivers to develop a deep understanding of their patients, and to respond to their needs with compassion and warmth.
There is a clear connection between practice and theory in my specialty (pediatric oncology nursing).
